Capital Improvement Programs (CIPs) are critical aspects of water /wastewater infrastructure master plans, as they identify individual projects, their description, and their estimated costs. A project can be either a Replacement, or New (Upgrade/ Expansion).
Akel Engineering Group has extensive experience developing infrastructure master plan CIPs, and which meet the requirements of Assembly Bill 1600. CIP construction triggers, normally expressed in EDUs, allow agency staff to continue monitoring the need for the projects and for optimizing budget planning.
Renewal and Replacement projects, based on risk and condition assessment, are also included for a more comprehensive budget planning process.
Akel also develops the more focused 5-year CIP, and which includes more details about each individual project, for both approval and funding purposes.
